The Furthest Deep

The Furthest Deep is a song rumoured to have been dug up out of the ground; a song guaranteed to bring success to anyone who records it.  A siren song.  A bewitching song.  Anyone who attempts to decipher the meaning buried in it's lyrics will unlock the co-ordinates to a hidden realm: a paradise for the lost and lonely.  Or so it's said.  All roads lead to Wringsham, a Somerset village where the locals become cagey if asked for directions to the standing stones, and where a mysterious local cult protects the dark secrets of nearby Fricker's Wood.

In the short story "SONG OF SOIL" published in Supernatural Tales # 53, New York singer Maria Caddas grows tired of being just the support act on a tour of the UK with star-turn Ginny Rivera, and craves a song of her own to sing.  When the tour bus breaks down on a country road, and the entire entourage is forced to spend the night in a nearby village, Maria is offered an unusual solution to making her dreams come true.

"PHANTOMS"
is a short story about a band of the same name, published in Heavy Metal Nightmares from Phobica Press, who on the brink of stardom need one final song to complete their debut album.  Serendipitously, singer Danny Hano is taken home after a gig one evening by a beautiful fan and introduced to a mesmerising ballad the name of which, she tells him, is the The Furthest Deep.
